“ We have been long term returners to Sugar Shack and my last review was down on them because of the way they changed the ribs. However, we visited tonight and were so impressed, the wife had the curried chicken which she thought was great and I got the jerk pork on the advice of our waiter. Really delicious meal! I highly recommend. Waiter was spot on, ambiance was loud by the time we left because there was not an empty table in the house, not a detractor by any means. We will be back! ”

“ We LOVE this place and worth the trip from St James! The food is unlike anywhere else around here. BEST coconut shrimp anywhere! And, don't judge - I always get the jerk goat. Delicious! Friends have had the ribs and took 1/2 home. The casual atmosphere with fantastic art inspired by Jamaica is the perfect accompaniment. And Anthony & Kaya always have a smile. They're closed now till around March? Just watch for them to reopen. AND they're casual but do take reservations. ”
“ My family had takeout prepared for a 70th birthday celebration. We usually go there once a summer but we had such a big group this is what we did. Literally, fall off the bone ribs, chicken wings grilled in a special marinade. Perfection! They gave us special sauces in ramekins. We can't figure out the recipe but you could definitely drink it by itself. ”
“ Each year while at the beach we make sure we stop here for at least 1 meal. The food does not disappoint! The best steak and rice you'll ever have! The jerk sauce is so good too, we always buy a bottle to take home. The service is always great, fast and polite. They love telling the story over how the restaurant got started. “ Haven't been to sugar shack in 12 years and no clue why it took so long to go back! We started out with the sample platter. Everyone was delicious as was the complimentary Johnny bread. We dug in so fast, I didn't get pics of our entrees! Between the 4 of us we had the ribs, the marinated steak, the curry chicken and the jerk chicken. All was so good and plenty of food! Staff was kind and attentive. The inside is simple but clean and inviting. We will be back this fall! ”
“ Sugar Shack is my favorite place to eat at Ocean Isle Beach. We only come once a year for our summer vacation, but I even have a favorite server who has been there year after year. In fact, I recognize a lot of the staff each year. I don't know what I do if I couldn't get, my annual fix at the Sugar shack. I hope they continue to run their amazing restaurant for many many years to come so that we can keep enjoying their fantastic menu. ”
“ Absolutely 10/10 - this place deserves all five stars! The atmosphere and service is incredible, and the food is nothing short of spectacular. My mom thought the jerk chicken wings were to die for, they were perfectly spiced with a flavor that lingers in the best way, and the meat absolutely falls off the bone. If I were you I would get the chicken wings . The curried chicken with rice was also incredible, though I must warn you, it does stain your nails if you have polish on them, but totally worth it!! This restaurant should definitely be added to your Ocean Isle Beach bucket list because it is AMAZING. Don't miss out on this ”
